South Tipperary County Council Art Service

The Art Service aims to encourage the promotion of the arts and to maximize their potential both directly and as an ‘enabler’. Planning and policy of the arts in the county is both developmental and strategic, striving for quality, inclusion, access and sustainability. The Service aims to be as inclusive as possible to all sectors of society and to ensure a provision and promotion of local, national and international arts, across all art forms, throughout the whole of South Tipperary. The Service provides arts information and advice, arts programming and arts grants for the community of South Tipperary.

The arts service, working in partnership with Tipperary EXCEL, have engaged dance artists Jazmin Chiodi and Alexandre Iseli to develop a new dance programme, developing a regular professional dance studio at the centre together with a programme of professional training, open dance classes and a series of workshops in schools and with the community. Bealtaine Festival.
Bealtaine is a time to celebrate creativity in older age. The Bealtaine Festival is a National Programme run throughout May each year in association with Age and Opportunity and all over the country older persons groups and individuals are actively involved in Arts events, workshops and activities. South and North Tipperary County Council Arts Services and Tipperary Libraries co-ordinate a festival together to develop a Bealtaine Programme across the whole county. Most events are free and open to the public. Taking its name from the ancient Celtic festival celebrating springtime, Bealtaine celebrates renewal, creativity and growth in ageing. The Arts Service is working in collaboration with cultural providers, schools and community to provide a wide range of arts activities aimed for young people between the ages of 13 to 20 years. The programme includes; Design, Drama, Film, Dance, Animation, Music and Theatre. Partner organisations have included, The Craft Granary, Brewery Lane Theatre, Cashel Community College, South Tipperary Arts Centre, Clonmel Youth Training Centre, Clonmel Junction Festival, Tipperary Institute and Tipperary Excel

Exhibitions
An annual exhibition programme organised by the Arts Service is held in the temporary gallery in the County Museum. Currently exhibitions are curated on an annual basis from National Collections or in collaboration with professional arts institutions and or curators. Alongside the exhibition programme, an education programme is developed, aimed at targeted audiences particularly schools, disability groups and the general public.
